Mark distinguished himself early at Brigham Young University's J. Reuben Clark Law School, finishing the first year ranked second in his class. In his last year of law school, he served as editor-in-chief of the BYU Law Review and graduated in the top five percent. After serving a year as a law clerk to Judge J. Clifford Wallace of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, Mark spent the next 24 years at San Diego's oldest and largest firm, Luce Forward Hamilton & Scripps LLP, the last 17 as an equity partner and two years as the supervisor of all first-year attorneys. In 2008, Mark founded The Law Office of Mark W. Hansen, where he continues to represent clients throughout California.

He is a rabid BYU football fan. When he's not working, he dreams about cruises with Kathy and backpacking trips in the Sierra Nevada wilderness with family and friends.
